Quick fannish olio

kathleen_daileyToo many medical appointments and complications, publishing deadlines, and social promises made but not yet kept. Nonetheless, these three things caught my attention:
1. Robin Curtis will be appearing at Shore Leave this year. She doesn't look much like Saavik in her publicity photo, but I can definitely imagine her as a Romulan officer (with small adjustments to hairstyle and clothes). IRL, according to the bio, she's a real estate agent.
2. A friend sent me a link to this 2020 interview with Jacqueline Lichtenberg and Jean Lorrah. Lichtenberg, speaking about Star Trek Lives!, said, "[W]e blew the lid on fanfic. In doing that, in telling the world that they can't do this to us; they can't take Star Trek away from us; they can't cancel us; they have no power over our imagination; we tore down walls for several generations to come to the gymnasium of the imagination where we share visions, articulate emotional wisdom, and become strong enough to 'make it so' in everyday reality."
3. The refrigerator repair person (played by Brendan Riggs, who deserves to be mentioned by name) in this week's episode of Resident Alien must be a member of the same subspecies of energy vampire as Colin Robinson. The actor gave a truly scene-stealing performance as the repairman whose droning monologue was enough to make Harry and Joseph--well, not bond, exactly, but at least exchange despairing glances.
More medical stuff is coming up next week (I thank every deity in this universe for the continued existence of OHIP), and then maybe there'll be time for some actual real-world fun.
