JMO, naturally. I'll cut for spoilers just in case:

I've read the speculation about Janeway or (Changeling Janeway) turning up. Ditto the speculation about Sela, and maybe that will turn out to be true. I'm trying hard to care. The Jack Crusher nonsense wasn't enough to throw me out of the story (quite), but the whole Data/Lore/B4/Soong/Lal/Spiner self-indulgence is really distracting and drama-killing. (And are we going to see anything of Lal's memories?)

This week's ep had two notable elements, however:

(1) Geordi, and

(2) Vadic's important scene, in which Amanda Plummer held my attention completely, and which looked and sounded so good that I almost wondered if its writer and director were people who hadn't had anything to do with the rest of the ep. However, that backstory about the Changeling POWs being experimented on--it seemed to come out of nowhere (both morally and dramatically), even if it was section 31 that was behind it.

That said, TPTB seem bent on demonizing Starfleet beyond redemption. One of the posters on KRAD's blog expressed it accurately:

"There was a moment in this episode, when Picard and Crusher were discussing options in sickbay, that I was sure that Picard was about to turn to Vadic, drop the forcefield and say 'what happened to you was inexcusable—but I believe we can find common ground and find some measure of justice for you and your people. Please trust me.' And . . . that did not happen. Picard was going to phaser a prisoner. I don't even know how to process that."

I've read a lot of theories about Frontier Day, but I still can't imagine why the writers would assemble every ship in Starfleet in one place, thus ensuring easy and lethal access by anyone.

Maybe next week we'll finally see the real Troi. Time's growing short, but one can hope. Myself, the character I would most love to see resurface in this plotline is Benjamin Sisko, but I'm pretty sure that won't happen.
