- Ro was always one of my favourites, so I was happy and surprised to see Michelle Forbes back. Her scene with Patrick Stewart was the standout of this episode, if not the series. But what a waste of a compelling character--killing her off after one appearance on an almost-done show. And I wish we could have had more interaction and reaction between Ro and Riker, whose relationship was complicated and dramatically interesting.
- The Worf & Raffi B-plot is better than virtually anything in the main plot, the Forbes-Stewart scene excepted. I wish we could see more of Worf and Raffi, but I'm glad that they were present this week.
- Jack is--something, but what? I hope the writers explain his superpowers PDQ, because that's the least attention-holding plot point. A lot of fans think he'll turn out to be a Pah wraith. I guess if we hear a mention of chroniton radiation, that'll be thesign anvil.
- Do the Janeway name checks foreshadow a Mulgrew appearance? It's kind of hard to see how that would work, given the few eps left, unless she appears only on a viewscreen.
- The retconning of the Changelings, who used to be able to take the form of any inanimate object but now apparently have to be organic in order to operate effectively, is just sheesh.
- And as for Krinn, the criminal logician--as someone over on Primetimer said, Krinn must be descended from Sybok's branch of the family. "There can be no utopia without crime"--oh, really? And here I always thought it was "a place of ideal perfection, especially in laws, government, and social conditions."
PTB, please give me more SNW and LD ASAP. (And no more season-long serial arcs ever, especially those that involve Starfleet conspirators and/or infiltrators.)
