RL sighted on the horizon

Real life looks as if it's about to loom large, which is likely to dim fannish enthusiasm temporarily. I did get a look at the new ST trailer this morning, and although I was a little taken aback by Chris Pine's 2009-specific delivery and manner, I'm keeping an open mind. Time has taught me not to form non-erasable opinions solely on the basis of trailers.

I continue to be amazed by Zachary Quinto's eerie Spockishness. It's quite unnerving.

Third time lucky?

Trying to do the journal thing yet again. Seems as if whenever I finally get myself geared up for the adventure, my timing sucks. Must try to overcome the troubled vibes of the recent unpleasantness and focus on the positive aspects of the fannish undertaking.

Now that I've made another big transition--coming out of the darkness of Windowsburg and into the sunniness of Macville--I'll have to take a long look at my sadly outdated web site and figure out the next step. Sigh--yet another thing I Must Do Something About.

On the upside, we're very lucky to have the young MacLad neighbour so close at hand and so willing to help. He made the purchase, installation, and newbie exploration of our iMac so much easier than it otherwise would have been. The spouse is still finding his way around the machine, but I'm feeling altogether comfy with it. Thanks, Alex!

WRT to fannishness generally--I'm not quite counting the days until May 8, but close. Trying not to put too much pressure on JJ's re-envisioning of the ST universe, but I am hoping quietly that it might jumpstart the long-stalled work-in- (verydamnlittle) progress. (And that all my pals who have drifted away into new fandoms might make a return visit to Trek.)

Off to give my employer some of what it's paying me for.
