Holly Hunter in Star Trek
By now everyone probably knows that Holly Hunter has a leading role in the Star Trek: Starfleet Academy series.
I've enjoyed seeing Hunter in many different roles, but her stunning performance as Grace Hanadarko in Saving Grace is my favourite. No one I know has watched or even heard of this show, and if it weren't for the sites and cites on the internet I might imagine that I hallucinated it. When it was broadcast, the three-season series took a fair amount of abuse for just about everything: its setting, its plot points, its themes, its characterizations, its ending--you name it. But I thought it was unique and brave and innovative, and I thought Hunter was brilliant in it.
I really hope that the Trek writers are equal to the challenge of writing for Holly Hunter, and that we don't end up with a Genevieve Bujold-type departure.

It'll be interesting to see how Holly Hunter and the Trek universe get along.
