Breathing in spite of it all

I walked over to the closest grocery store and LCBO early today to pick up a few essentials and some Kilkenny, and the air was really bad--smoky, hazy, thick, and just generally nasty. Then this afternoon we had an email from our condo board saying they were temporarily shutting down the building's makeup air system for a day (at least) for residents' safety because the forecast for Thursday's air quality in Toronto is so dire. Without any makeup air, we'll be sharing our neighbours' cooking aromas for a day (and they ours), but that's better than the alternative.

The sky is just plain eerie--an alien-looking, glowing, yellowish grey that doesn't seem to belong to our planet.

Here's hoping Friday will bring better news for everyone.

So true! But as long as I don't see any Vulcan mystics or temple guards hanging out near the towers of Bay and King, I'll be able to remember what world I'm on. Maybe. :-)
