I did exactly the same thing! The result was not encouraging, so we walked to the Rabba at the end of our street and picked up the minimal necessities. Not a store where I normally choose to shop, but needs must.

It wasn't bad--it was cold, but the streets were un-slippy and the sun was lovely.
