Mediocre Minds

I watched Brilliant Minds ("The Lovesick Widow") for the first time on Tuesday because it featured Susan Bay Nimoy in a guest role. She gave a very good performance, and I liked the shamelessly fan-serving moment when June tells Oliver that he reminds her of a younger version of her late husband. But the non-June parts of the ep were meh. Dull dialogue, uncompelling characters, flat direction. Too bad, because I've liked Zachary Quinto in other things. (And the idea that the therapist would agree to continue treating a client after learning that the client had been the therapist's husband's mistress was just too much to swallow, even on a medical soap opera.)

This series is probably not going to be a permanent fixture in my viewing rotation.
