Trek recs

Finally, a bright light on the generally dreary, derivative horizon of TOS fic! True, this particular light is travelling across space and time from approximately the turn of the century, but it's pretty brilliant nonetheless: [archiveofourown.org profile] lenetaylor is posting her stories to AO3. They're smart and funny and subversive, and they bring back memories of the days when Trek fandom was more, ahem, freewheeling than it is now.*

Lene is also in the process of posting a hilarious round robin ("The Russian Always Screams Twice"), a note-perfect extravaganza of hardboiled space-detective noir, by some of the very best Trek writers from ASCEML and TrekFest, on AO3. (Lene has included links to the contributors' fic pages--a huge bonus.) I'm pretty sure that most readers won't have encountered any Trekfic quite like this before. :)

And speaking of note-perfect noir, [archiveofourown.org profile] kalima recently posted another chapter of "Nirak and Nova Paint the Town." Highly recommended if you're not already subscribed.
